Well last week we did a mix of Salmon and halibut trips . Halibut started out great with 3 limit catches in a row of halibut up to 60lbs and then it sloooowwwed down at the end of the week with just a fish or 2 per trip.
Salmon continues to be excellent with our best catches coming in from constance bank and the largest last week being 23lbs! Sooke has started to offer some good fishing as well with many 20# plus fish being caught ,and should just get better in the next couple of weeks.
We have one week left in sooke before we make the transition up to Port Renfrew for a few weeks then back to sooke for a week around fathers day before heading west for the remainder of the summer.
Tight lines and calm seas.

We were out all weekend in the Just for The Halibut Derby and all though the tides weren’t faverable the fishing was great for us . On the Saturday the water was as flat as it’s been all year and sunny and warm we ended up with 4 halibut the largest being 47lbs and Sunday the way the tides were we only got about 3hrs in and caught 2 small halibut.
The winner was 194lbs caught by Al Crow what a beauty!!! Congrats Al
Now for a salmon report – Salmon fishing in sooke and victoria has still been great and there getting bigger every day now!
The next set of halibut tides for our area start May 22nd and goes rite through till the 30th .We still have a few of these days open so feel free to give us a shout.

It’s been a good week onboard the miss madi with limit catches of halibut on all but 1 trip. our largest this week was 55lbs but a very good ave of around 40lbs.
Salmon has also been excellent leaving Pedder Bay and heading either to Whirl Bay or Constance bank ,both have been very good with fish up to 22lbs and many into the teens! Anchovies, pink haze and irish cream spoons have been the hot lures.

Well it’s been a while since my last report but both salmon andhalibut fishing has been great.
Last Friday we had a group out on a full day trip and we managed 4 nice halbut up to 45lbs and 5 nice spring salmon all 8 to 15 lbs, We got all salmon out on constance bank, on pinkhaze squirts.
From there i ran the boat up to Port Renfrew for the long weekened and enjoyed a little family time sitting around the campfire and crabbing. The crabbing was amazing and we got easy limits daily. While there , there were quite a few boats out salmon fishing and it was very good to excellent on the aft flood ,lots of fish up to 2olbs.
Then back to pedder bay where we did a half day halibut trip and got 3 nice halibut 50,42 and 30lbs.
Back out in the am so will have another report in the pm and will try and get some pics up.

The last couple days have yet again been filled with wind and big water, And lots of Halibut, Saturday most boats turned around after getting out into the bay but my crew and i decided to push on and managed to land 5 halibut sizes 20,25,42,45,48 lbs .Once the bite came on it was non stop action.Today started off calm for the first hour or so then a big south east blow hit us hard and we had to bail out around noon but landed 3 halibut 20,48,52lbs before we left.\
Were back out in the am so here’s hoping for calm seas and lots of fish.
